If I had the privilege of having super powers I would go with "Super Senses".  Though I consider myself a very empathetic and sensitive to others kind of person, I would really love to have the power to communicate with nature itself.  Nature includes animals, so I would be able to sense how they feel.  I would have the ability to sense the overall well-being and conditions of my immediate environment.  Wouldn't that be awesome? Talking to animals, trees, plants, rivers, etc.  I mean, not literally, but in a very beautiful way.  Words wouldn't be needed.  Having Super Senses would also help me in relationships with humans since I could sense their emotions and know everything about them with just touching them.  I could feel the heartbeat in every living thing.  It goes something like the movies Fantasia 2000, Fern Gully or even Avatar.  Though having Super Senses may help me understand my environment I would add two more super powers to make the perfect combination.  "Animal control" (every kind of animal) and "Under Water Breathing".  If I control all animals, I could live among them without becoming their prey, and they could understand me and consider me Alpha (in a nice way).  By breathing under water I'll be able to enjoy the beauty of the mysterious deep sea, and communicate with each creature living there.

On more selfish grounds I would love to have  super powers such as: Invisibility, Innate Capability, Sound Manipulation, and Portal Creation.  Invisibility includes making what I touch invisible too.  I would know everything without anyone knowing, and I would be able to enjoy many things without paying for them.  For example, concerts, art courses, dance lessons, expensive restaurants, entering VIP's, etc.  With innate capability I would have the ability to naturally have skills and/or knowledge typically earned through learning.  This way studying or doing exhausting research wouldn't be necessary.  On the other hand, sound manipulation may help me control situations, headaches, and stressful moments.  For instance, when you just want someone to shut up this power might be perfect.  Also when I'm very stressed and just want silence or a specific music like Bossa Nova, it might help.  Finally, Portal Creations would help me save gas, money, and time.  I would travel anywhere without using a car, plane or boat (except cruises, which I love).  I wouldn't have to worry about driving back home, and if a place sucks I would simply open a portal to another place.

When it comes to music there’s a variety of genres that I really enjoy. Bossa Nova, Blues, and Lounge music are some of my favorites. I also love the funk in House music and the inevitable energy I feel when listening to DNB (drum and base) music. In addition to that I can't talk about music without mentioning Salsa. I not only love listening to Salsa music, but really enjoy dancing it too. I get that "me pica la vena" feeling for dancing every once in a while. I also love the stories of "despecho", like my grandmother used to call them, interpreted in many Salsa songs. I like the fact that many songs in this genre define us. In other words, they define our culture, our social issues, and our traditions. On top of all that, it is extremely fascinating dancing it and feeling the rhythm running through my veins. If you're a salsa lover like me, you'll understand what I mean. However, in my opinion, the real good stuff lies in the reggae roots music.

Since I was 5, I had the chance to travel many times to the Virgin Islands. This brought me closer to the genre and the culture behind it. In every trip to the islands I heard the name Bob Marley and how he made an impact in society. I started getting interested, but it wasn't until I turned 12, when I was introduced into the world of reggae music, that I started to experience the "feeling" reggae music provokes in the human mind and body. My sister showed me different artists, and talked to me about who Bob Marley was. I became kind of obsessed with reggae music. I could listen to it all day long at any time of the day. It let me get out of my mind and daydream, like some kind of escape. Teenage years can be tough at times, but having reggae music in my life made me see things differently. It influenced a lot in who I am today and how I see many things in life. Reggae music in its majority is about love, union, peace, relationships, and sexuality in the most beautiful way. It can also be about revolution, freedom, self-respect, and social issues. Reggae helped me see the beauty in the small things; it made me appreciate more my surroundings. Listening to it can be sort of a healing process, though you don't have to be broken to feel it. Hope you can enjoy it as much as I do. Hope it takes you high above the sky!
